Rigid Heddle Weaving with Pickup Patterns with Nicole

Are you ready to move beyond plain weave? Further your rigid heddle weaving skills by creating a scarf using a pick-up pattern! Pick-up sticks allow you to easily extend the capabilities of your rigid heddle loom without adding a second heddle. Weaving time outside of class is required. Please note that this class is held in 3 consecutive sessions. Make sure you can attend all 3 sessions before signing up.
Winter Quarter session:
February 1, 8 & 15 - 11:00 AM-1:00 PM
What you will learn:
- How to read pick-up patterns
- How to set up pick-up stick(s)
- How to weave with pick-up sticks
- Learn about creating your own patterns
Skills you already need to have:
-You need to have basic rigid heddle weaving knowledge, including how to warp
-Perfect next step if you've taken our Beginning Rigid Heddle Weaving class!
Materials needed for class:
-Rigid heddle loom with heddle appropriate for worsted weight yarn
(Loom rentals from the shop have limited availability - if you need to rent a loom for this class please call the shop before signing up!)
-Pick up sticks: at least 2
-Yarn for warp and weft: 2 skeins of two different colors of Worsted weight yarn
Recommended: 500 yards total divided between 2 different colors of Blue Sky Woolstok wound into balls or cakes
-Fabric scissors
-Tape measure
-Craft paper or cut paper grocery bags for warp separation
