Have you knit socks and ever wonder what it is like to knit them from the Toe Up? Have you tried to knit toe up socks and felt it was awkward? Have you ever wanted to knit a pair of socks with leftover sock yarn but worried you would run out of yarn? This sock class is perfect for those who would like to add a new skill to their sock knitting library or challenge themselves to use a small amount of yarn!. Fabulous for those new to the world of sock knitting or those of you who are interested in learning new sock knitting skills, this class will provide hands-on guidance and foundational skills you'll need to take the mystery out of knitting a toe up socks.
Class Highlights (skills you will learn):

Introduction to Materials: Explaining the possibility of using a 2 needles or magic loop for the toe of the sock to account

Anatomy of a Sock: Familiarize yourself with a simple sock pattern, and challenges that will arise when tackling socks toe-up

Reading a Sock Pattern: Break down the Rising up Socks pattern to understand its structure and instructions, and how this applies to the fit of the finished sock.

Cable Techniques: Look at using ssks, k2tog, and p2tog stitches to create the toe of the sock

Tips and Troubleshooting: Discuss common challenges faced by beginners and learn practical tips to overcome them. We will also discuss ways to help with the fit of the finished sock. .
By the end of this class, participants will have a solid understanding of knitting a sock toe up and the benefits of choosing this sock knitting method. Hopefully, with a bit of practice, you will be knitting them confidently. Whether you're knitting for yourself or as a heartfelt gift, this class will set you on a path to creating beautiful wearable art that fits comfortably.
Skills you already need to have: Students must have basic sock knitting experience
Materials to bring to class:

Pattern: Rising Up Socks pattern by Denise DeSantis from her book No Fear Sock Knitting: Take the worry out of knitting socks with this beginner's guide, available in-store or on our website

Fingering weight sock yarn 100g this pattern looks best in any yarn, if this is your first time knitting toe-up socks, you may find a lighter colored yarn easier to work on

Needles: appropriate for your yarn,, I recommend US 1 or a US 1.5 or 2 if you are a tight knitter. Participants can choose Magic Loop, DPNs, Flexi-needles Or 9” circulars. Please note: If using 9” circulars, you will want to have a second 9” or 12” circular to knit your socks on.

Notions: Stitch markers, ruler, tapestry needle, scissors, etc.
