Fall Quarter Sessions:
Sept 14 (12:30-3:00 PM), Sept 16 (12:30-2:30 PM) & Sept 30 (12:30-2:00 PM)
This class will meet for three sessions of varying lengths. Please be sure you can attend all three sessions before registering.
Explore weaving with this beginner rigid heddle weaving class. Learn the basics of setting up your loom and how to keep your sides from pulling in. You will finish the class with a beautiful plain weave table topper made with worsted weight yarn. Don’t let the term “plain weave” fool you though - there is nothing plain about it! No prior weaving experience is needed, and your loom rental is INCLUDED in the class cost - this is a great chance to try weaving before committing to a loom purchase!
Skills you will learn:
-Be able to identify the correct yarns for warp and weft
-Learn how to set up a rigid heddle loom for plain weave
-Learn how to weave straight sides and how to deal with yarn tails
-Learn how to hemstitch your weaving to anchor your edges
-Be able to take your weaving off the loom and finish up ends
Materials to bring to class:
Rigid Heddle loom - your loom rental is included in the class cost and will be waiting for you at the first session.
Credit card info with a signed contract for use are required - this MUST be completed at the shop PRIOR to the first class
Worsted weight yarn - specific requirements will be sent by instructor prior to first sessions
Fabric scissors
Tapestry needle
