Beginner Rigid Heddle Weaving with Keyser

Explore weaving with this beginner rigid heddle weaving class. Learn the basics of setting up your loom and how to keep your sides from pulling in. You will finish the class with a beautiful plain weave scarf that is ready to wear. Don’t let the term “plain weave” fool you though - there is nothing plain about it! Please note that this class is held over 3 consecutive sessions. Make sure you can attend all 3 sessions before signing up.
What You Will Learn
-Be able to identify the correct yarns for warp and weft
-Learn how to set up a rigid heddle loom for plain weave
-Learn how to weave straight sides and how to deal with yarn tails
-Be able to take your weaving off the loom and finish up ends
This class is offered as in-person only.
Materials You Will Need Before the First Class
Rigid Heddle loom rented from Dances With Wool - class cost includes $20 rental fee
Credit card info with a signed contract for use are required - this MUST be completed at the shop PRIOR to the first class
Yarn for warp and weft: 2 skeins of two different colors of Worsted weight yarn
Recommended: 500 yards total divided between 2 different colors of Berroco Vintage or Blue Sky Woolstock. Yarn should be wool, wool blend, or 100% acrylic. Cotton yarns are not suitable for this class. Please have yarn wound and ready to use at the first class.
